Types of Massage
Let's see if we can simplify the myriad of massage techniques you might see advertised elsewhere. Swedish, Deep Tissue, Shiatsu, Acupressure, Sports Massage,Trager, Reflexology, Myofascial Release, Trigger Point, Neuromuscular Therapy and Medical Massage are all terms used to describe the most commonly practiced techniques. How do you begin to decide which is the right massage for you? There are basically two types of massage therapy:
Massage designed for relaxation
Massage designed for pain management
There is, of course, some pain reduction inherent in relaxation massage and some relaxation resulting from the application of techniques designed to alleviate pain.
Please discuss with your therapist your particular interests so that they may customize your session to meet your needs.
In all sessions, massage therapists are here to help you feel better, not judge you. We see a variety of people of different shapes and sizes. We work with each person individually and confidentially to ensure that their visit is a pleasant one.
